World's first HBM GPU Launch.

By: TechAvenue

After what has been a painful 9 months for AMD ever since the launch of the GTX 980 and 970 back in last September where AMD lost double digit market share in the discrete GPU market AMD finally launced the Fury X GPU on the heels of the launch of the R9 300 series GPUs. The 300 series are mostly re-brands of the older Hawaii Architecture while the Fury X is brand new and features 4GB of the World's First HBM memory. So far the Fury X is getting mixed reviews if you follow the links below with HardOCP being the most critical.

While we commend AMD for launching the World's first HBM GPU, we can't help but feel a bit disappointed at the performance and the price it's launching. While it's a great card for those who want a cool and quite GPU that is significantly smaller than the 980 Ti, the performance leaves a lot to be desired for. We can only recommend this card to those who want a small and cool card (possibly in small form factor PCs) and those who want to game at 4K as the Fury X really starts to beat the 980 Ti at that resolution. We are however looking forward to the regular HBM based Fury and especially the Fury Nano.
