Maker of fashionista phones caught Qualcomm surprised when they released their A7 chip for the iPhone 5s. According to a blog posted by Hubspot, an unnamed source at Qualcomm is said to have stated that Qualcomm was hit in the “gut” when Apple launched their 64-bit A7 chip for the iPhone A7 processor. The quote states that “The roadmap for 64-bit was nowhere close to Apple’s, since no one thought it was that essential”.  Even though there maybe be very little Apps that actually took advantage of the 64-bit processor, we think that it’s a good step in pushing forward technology. This is similar to the CPU and the GPU world where, intel, AMD and nVidia are constantly pushing the engineering boundaries. One would hope that Apple’s competitors would follow Apple’s lead and release their own 64-bit processors.
