A little more than 6 month's after the Litecoin mining craze which started around Thanksgiving time last year a quick search on newegg shows that the price of R9 290 and R9 290X has come back to it's retail level. You could get a XFX Double Dissipation for $399 on newegg. Also, one can get a XFX Double Dissipation R9 290X for less than $479.99 on tigerdirect which is actually $70 less than the launch price of the original R9 290X which launched at $549.99.

We were also reminded by AMD in a newsletter that were sent out to all it's subscribers a little more than 2 weeks ago with the subject line that reads:

"AMD Radeon™ R9 Series graphics now at list price"

With the content that reads:

"Gamers, we have good news!
With the extreme popularity of AMD Radeon™ R9 Series graphics cards over the past few months, some gamers have found it hard to get their hands on these great products at suggested list prices.

We've worked hard to make sure there are plenty of AMD Radeon™ graphics cards available in the market at suggested manufacturer prices for everyone to get one. Armed with Mantle, AMD TrueAudio technology and the recently refreshed Never Settle Forever game bundle, the AMD Radeon™ R9 Series graphics cards offer the performance and value in every segment from $179.99 to $1,499!"

We tend to agree as we believe that it's been long time and my be an unaccpetable time period for Gamer's to get hold of an AMD R9 series GPU's as many of them didn't want to shell out upwards of to $900 on a AMD R9 GPU.

This can only be good thing for Gamers as it provides a much more competitve landscape where Gamer's were forced to choose an nVidia GPU despite wanting to get the much more cost effective retail price of AMD R9 GPU's and the benefit of things such as Mantle. Lastly, the icing on the cake is that these GPU's are not only at the retail price of the original launch or cheaper it comes with custom coolers which means it runs even cooler than the original R9 290 and 290X!
